Robin Diakhaté (Executive Director)

After retiring from twenty years in the theatre as an actor, director, writer, and Associate Artistic Director of Words Across Cultures (1993), Robin shifted her talents into creating academic and inspirational activities for children. Since then she has worked with foster and homeless children, created an empowerment workshop for high school girls, directed a short piece written and performed by Los Angeles area high school students for The Season for Non-Violence-LA (1997).

Before coming to Zeitgeist, Robin spent seven years developing and managing an academic program at the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California.  There she worked with children living with sickle cell disease, who were having academic challenges in school. She was also a Program Manager for Camp Crescent Moon where she created programs on peace, African Culture, and rites of passage. Recently Robin volunteered to teach English to pre-school students at Groupe Scolaire Keur Bouna in Senegal, West Africa.

Donovan Malloy (Program Assistant)

Donovan is an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison currently studying business and communication arts. A recent graduate of Pacific Palisades Charter High School, Donovan was raised in the Crenshaw community. He found his way to Zeitgeist as an intern and mentor through the Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative. He used his background in the national promotion of education and journalism to organize summer workshops such as Project President 2008, a letter writing campaign to presidential candidates, as well as Math Day, a complete day of preparation for math classes in the fall. Although Donovan is now an out of state college freshman, he continues to work for the organization by developing promotional material, preparing course curriculum, and updating database and web site information.

Christelle Telesford (Volunteer Assistant)

Christelle Telesford is a current graduate from CSULB receiving her Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Educational Services Management. She has come to know ZCLC through mere curiosity. Living in close proximity of the center with a desire to have her own non profit in the future, she wanted to know more about Zeitgeist. Chistelle was delighted to find out that Zeitgeist was a year round program that engaged students in their quest for knowledge and creativity. Volunteering at Zeitgeist this summer was a great opportunity to gain experience and learn about managing her own after-school program in the future. Christelle volunteers during the school year when her busy schedule permits.

Zeitgeist is truly a wonderful program.  I am glad that the students in the Baldwin Village community have an opportunity to receive greater exposure to education and the world.
